Earth & Fire: Keepsake in Copper
Dec. 17-18
A two day metal clay jewelry workshop to create a copper pendant, earring and/or beads inspired by a beautifully shaped leaf. $99 REGISTER HERE
Metal Clay is a medium consisting of very small particles of metal mixed with an organic binder and water for use in making jewelry, beads and small sculptures. It originated in Japan in 1990 and can be shaped just like any soft clay, by hand or by using molds. The clay after shaping, is dried and then sanded to create a smooth finish. The next step is to fire the dried clay in a kiln to burn off the binder and become a hard metal.
The first day will be spent learning more about metal clay, making a mold and exploring creative options. Then, we'll dive in and create a pendant, earrings, or beads from the mold. Eddi will take all of the completed pieces and fire them overnight. The next day will be spent finishing the pieces and admiring the beautiful results. Everyone should go home with at least three lovelies.
