Dragon booklets
Multi-media artist Crycket Woodward, currently in The Bascom's LISTENING TO THE LAND exhibit in Highlands, NC, has been an Alarka alumni for years. Always a perfectionist but of great humor - now she's leading us in her own workshop, making nature-inspired booklets of accordion musings and other styles, intoned by the Lunar New Year of the Dragon. 10AM-3PM

Winter is the perfect time to begin to approach meditation or simply bolster your on-going practice. As a service to our clients and our community, Alarka Expeditions offers a monthly meditation led by Jack Johnston, expert on horticulture and all things botanical and world-class kriya yoga instructor.
Jack practices a no-frills, easy to grasp, form of Kriya Yoga meditation. No props necessary. We basically sit in a semi-circle in regular chairs with gentle lighting.

Kriya Yoga is a non-denominational spiritual practice open to anyone wishing to experience greater peace, clarity, and wholeness.

The next meditation is at
6PM
Wednesday, Feb. 21st

Winter Tree I.D.
Learning to identify tree species is one of the most fulfilling skills in the world.
Knowing how to distinguish them from one another in winter, is EXTRA.
After decades of tree hugging, we know how to make this daunting subject so much fun. We look forward to bringing you this workshop each year.

The morning will be spent deliberating over twigs and keys in a distinctly Cowee-klatch atmosphere. Bring your lunch and be able to navigate un-level ground for the afternoon in the field.
