Via Skype or FaceTime we will set up your practice of keeping a personalized journal of occurences and observations with weather and human influence using description and illustration. Using a blank book, we'll create a natural history log that appeals to your personal journaling practice and pleasure.
Art expertise is not important for the purposes of this workshop, just a love of nature. We will discuss and explore various techniques on recording particular and would-be overlooked life that surrounds us, with description, sketching, watercolors, colored pencils, etc.. You can do this through a window, in a backyard or an office parking lot. All you need is an internet connection.
My technique is easy to construct so that it can be kept up in the midst of most life-styles.
I prefer a Pentalic sketch book of 11"x14" and a small selection of minimal art supplies. But this session does not require any more than an 8.5x11 sheet of office paper and pen, in order to get started.
We can schedule continued sessions on an 'as needed' basis. Or we can set up a regular schedule of 'refreshers where I can share techniques, formats and resources.
If you already nature journal and keep a log book, we can discuss ways to enhance that practice in a 'virtual' yet hands-on session.
